New Game: Hesychasm

The painting "Ladder of Paradise" with the word "Hesychasm" overlaid on yellowed paper.

Hot on the heels of Black Iron Engine, I’ve just released another tabletop RPG. This one, however, consists of a single two-page spread, so it wasn’t quite the years-long project that the last one was.

Made for the Possum Creek Games Jam In Silence, its name is “Hesychasm“, which comes from the Greek word for stillness, rest, or silence. I wanted to do an experiment in unusual replacements for dice, so instead you use meditation, counting breaths until a thought distracts you. Then you get into a theological argument over dinner with the other monks at your monastery, until one of your reaches enlightenment and founds a schismatic sect.

It’s pay-what-you-want on Itch.io right now, so you lose nothing by taking a look! Unless you were trying to meditate, in which case you might want to refocus on your breathing.
